Condos, Condos, Everywhere
March 16th, 2007 8:05 PM
Have you noticed all the new condo projects that are popping up in Waterville, Winslow and Oakland?  It appears that contractors are realizing that our population is getting older and is now ready for condo living.  It's true.  Maine's population is the oldest of the 50 states;  even older than Florida's population.

With new condos still being built in the Meadowview Development in Winslow and Phase 2 of Lincoln Green in Waterville, one would think we couldn't possibly sell more condos. However, condos are definitely selling and there appears to be a need for more.  There is a new development starting on the Shores Road on the Waterville/Oakland line and a condo development abutting the Waterville Country Club.

Prices are steadily climbing too!  Many new condos start in the $200,000. price range and end as high as $450,000.  They are larger and more luxurious than ever before.  it's not unusual to see granite countertops, hardwood floors, spas, gas fireplaces and fancy trimwork and columns.

I think this trend will continue as Mid-Maine's population continues to age and retire.  Are you thinking of buying a condo?  If you are, please call me.  I have all the local condo information at my fingertips!

Maine Property Tax Refund - Do you qualify?
March 19th, 2007 5:04 PM
Maine Property Tax Refunds:  Did you know that thousands of Maine residents don't apply for partial property tax refunds on their primary residence under the existing Maine "Circuit Breaker" program? To be eligible for the general portion of the program you must have been a resident of Maine for all of 2005, maintained a homestead in Maine for all of 2005 and lived in your homestead at least six months during 2005. Total 2005 household income must have been not more than $77,000 for a person who lived alone; OR, $102,000 for a person who lived with a spouse and/or dependent(s); AND your 2005 property tax must have been more than 4% of your 2005 household income; OR, the rent you paid in 2005 must have been more than 20% of your 2005 household income. The 2005 program ends in May 2007. The program to apply for refunds of property tax during 2006 begins August 1, 2007. Additional details, and an application (including online filing) can be found at this link:  http://www.maine.gov/revenue/taxrelief/tnr.htm

Welcome to my new blog!
March 1st, 2007 10:23 PM

Just when you think your website has every feature known to man, they come up with the idea of the blog.  Blogs have been around for awhile, but I really didn't give the idea much thought until Don Plourde, the owner of Coldwell Banker Plourde Real Estate, gave me a book called Realty Blogging, by Richard Nacht and Paul Chaney. On my last plane flight to Florida, I started reading the book and realized this might be a good idea and a great way to exchange ideas, thoughts and opinions on my website.  So welcome to my blog and please tune in regularly.  It's 10:21 P.M. and a little late to get started, so this will have to wait for another day, but be sure to check back here regularly!  Thanks for being here.
